Increase in Independent License Holder Option in India

In 2015 medical device Registration Certificates issued to commercial distributors in India declined to below 25% for the first time.  The majority, 67%, were issued to subsidiaries of multinational companies while the use of independent license holders increased to 8%, up from 2% in 2012. More companies are choosing to set up their own subsidiary or use an independent license holder in order to efficiently sell directly to multiple local distributors into the highly rationalized Indian market.
